Legal basis
Experiment delivery. We process your email address on the basis of your consent, which you give by submitting the sign-up form and can withdraw at any time.
Optional TimeByChoice updates. Only if you tick the separate checkbox. This is a distinct consent and you can withdraw it without affecting your access to the guide above.
Book updates. If you sign up on the Book page, we use your email address to send you updates about the TimeByChoice book. We process this on the basis of your consent, which you give by submitting the sign-up form and can withdraw at any time.
Contact and correction submissions. We process your message, and your email address where you provide one, so we can answer your inquiry and keep the site accurate. If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, we rely on our legitimate interest in responding to inquiries and correcting published material.
Check statistics. We do not intentionally link these to your name or email address, and we use them only in aggregate.
What we collect
Email address. If you submit your email through the Experiment sign-up form on this site, you get immediate access to the 7-Day Intention Experiment guide, and we store that address to keep you informed if we update it. The form also has a separate, unticked checkbox for occasional TimeByChoice updates; we only send those if you tick it.
Book update email address. If you join the book list on the Book page, we store your email address so we can contact you when there is meaningful news about the book. Signing up for book updates does not add you to other TimeByChoice mailing lists.
The Check quiz. Your individual question answers are processed entirely in your browser and are never sent to us. When you reach your result, we receive a result summary: the five final dimension totals and the overall result category. We use these individual summaries only to produce aggregate statistics about how people generally respond, and we do not intentionally link them to your name, email address or individual answers. As with any web request, our hosting provider may process technical metadata such as IP address in the course of delivering the site.
We do not use third-party analytics tools or tracking cookies. We collect only the limited Check result summaries described above. If that changes, this policy will be updated first.
Contact and correction forms
If you write to us through the form on the About or Research page, we receive your message. On the About form we also receive your email address if you provide one; on the Research correction form an email address is optional. We use them only to read your message, reply where a reply is wanted, and correct anything we got wrong. Sending one of these forms does not add you to the mailing list.
How we use it
Experiment delivery. We use your email to give you access to the guide and to reach you only if we make a significant update to it. Nothing else.
Optional TimeByChoice updates. If, and only if, you ticked the separate checkbox, we also send occasional research notes and updates. Every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link.
Book updates. We use your email only to send you updates about the TimeByChoice book. Every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link.
Contact and correction submissions. We use your message, and your email address if you provided one, only to read what you sent, reply where a reply is wanted, and correct anything we got wrong. These are never added to the mailing list.
In neither case do we sell or rent your email address, or share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes. Service providers may process it on our behalf, as described below.
Who processes it
Form submissions are processed and stored by Netlify, our hosting provider, on our behalf. Netlify's processing of customer data is governed by its Data Processing Agreement. If we later add a dedicated email service to send the newsletter, this page will be updated to name it before any data is passed to them.
Your rights
You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email we send. To request deletion of your data outright, contact us at privacy@timebychoice.com — we'll handle your request within the timeframe required by applicable law.
If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, you have rights under GDPR including access, correction, and erasure of your data, the right to withdraw consent at any time, and the right to object to processing carried out on the basis of our legitimate interests. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority. If the CCPA applies to us, California residents may have additional rights under California law. Contact us at the address above for any of these.
Retention
Experiment delivery addresses: kept for as long as we offer this guide, unless you ask us to delete yours sooner.
Optional updates: if you opted in separately, your address is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
Book updates: kept until you unsubscribe, ask us to delete it, or the book-update list is discontinued.
Contact and correction messages: kept while we deal with them and for up to 12 months after the conversation ends, then deleted.
Check result summaries: individual summaries are kept for up to 90 days and deleted after aggregation. The aggregate figures may be kept longer, as they describe groups rather than individuals.
